Fears for 500 jobs after Drayton South mine rejection
MINER Anglo American says it will consider all options to keep its Drayton South mine proposal alive but admits the project has been dealt a "shattering blow" in the form of rejection by the Planning Assessment Commission.
The state's planning system came under fire yet again in the wake of the decision published on Tuesday, with about 500 full time jobs and more contractors at the existing Drayton mine, who were expected to transfer to the new operation, likely to lose their positions from as early as next year.
The Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association's Dr Cameron Collins "Anabola Steroider Norge Lagligt" said the decision was an "important milestone" and recognised that once damage was done to the studs "it is irreversible".
The Planning Assessment Commission found the mine expansion would not provide a sufficient buffer to protect Coolmore and Darley. Read the rejection report here
The economic benefits of the mine did not outweigh the risks of losing the studs and the potential demise of the Upper Hunter equine industry as well as damage to the horse breeding reputation of NSW and Australia.
Notably, it found the project complied with environmental regulations criteria, but these were "designed for human comfort" and there was "insufficient evidence" about the impact of mining on horses.
Anglo American said the decision flew in the face of the Planning and Environment Department's report on the Anavar 15mg Tablets project, which stated Drayton South was in the public interest.
The company's 4-chlorodehydromethyltestosterone focus was on supporting workers and considering its options, chief executive Seamus French said. The government acknowledged the planning system was "broken" but wasn't doing anything to fix it, council chief executive Stephen Galilee said.
Its promised planning bill, put forward by former planning minister Brad Hazzard, was left in limbo after Labor "buy cheap jintropin online" and the crossbench tried to significantly amend it.
"Delegating state significant decisions to an unelected body like the [Planning Assessment Commission] is a failure of leadership from the NSW government," Mr Galilee said. "It's Dianabol Atlas-Dom an attempt to avoid the responsibility that comes with being in office, and it's a betrayal of the working people who will have to live with the consequences of these poor outcomes."
Dr Collins also criticised the "long and stressful" assessment process and called for better planning.
The Baird government was also under fire for leaking the decision to the media before it was officially published or the company had a chance to tell its workers.
Mining and energy union northern district president Peter Jordan said workers found out from radio reports on their way to the mine or while still on shift.
"It is an appalling "Anadrol 50" way for this news to be delivered."
Planning Minister Pru Goward refused to address questions in Parliament about whether her office was responsible, despite being quoted in a Sydney media report about the decision.
Ms Goward said the decision on Drayton was "not Deca Durabolin Jak Brac about choosing sides".
"Rather the assessment . . . was about a robust and thorough independent process, a process that is integral to a fair and reasonable planning system."
